My heart speaks to me
Just like any other,
In lowly tones and loud upsetting voices
It pierces sometimes
giving sleepless nights
Or serenades with hopeful daydreams;
But lately we have battled
the pressure mounts,
Warning of impending battles I deceptively ignore
It fights for its survival along with mine
I long to silence it;
Like the sounds of a nagging beloved
I’m ignoring,
I shall bury it and with it I shall myself
The end looms
I wish I had listened;
Feels like my dying days are full of pain and regrets
It speaks to me again,
my heart!
It consoles and comforts of the few things that mattered most;
The pleasure sought and enjoyed
the sights seen and beheld
The love made and the smells that lingered;
It had been my companion
It tries to rekindle a flame
But I killed it and with it I died…
